The electronic compass uses sensors and electronics to determine the direction of North. A disadvantage of this type of compass is its dependence on electrical power. The main advantage is that the sensors can be mounted separately from the display. This allows you to install the sensors in a location with minimal interference – for example, away from onboard electronics and wiring.
